Preserving the Past with Baryn Futa
By collecting art in the way he does, Baryn Futa feels that he is investing in both the past and the future. He is anxious to preserve as much art as possible for posterity, as a way for different generations to communicate with each other. After all, it is clear that the art of the past puts us in touch with our ancestors in a way that nothing else can, which means he is helping to communicate with our descendants, which means our children will benefit. This makes sense, since those of us who visit museums and look at the art like to imagine what was happening at that point in time.
It’s is because previous generations preserved their art for us that causes Baryn Futa to feel responsible for preserving believes strongly that we owe it to future generations to keep that going. These types of revelations actually came late for Baryn Futa. He was already retired when he began working at the Denver Art Museum and became enthralled with the art world almost immediately and attended numerous arts classes and started his own art collection, which has grown to be very extensive and impressive over the years.
